Steamed Rice 101

Here is a foolproof method to cook rice using the Anova Precision Oven. By using the steam function of the oven, you’ll take the guesswork out of making perfectly fluffy rice. Note: The recipe below adds seasonings for cilantro-lime rice, which is great as a side dish or added to a burrito. You can, however, use this recipe as a template to make any rice recipe you like—or for just plain white rice.

Ingredients
3 cups
water
2 cups
basmati or other long-grain white rice
1 Tbsp
extra-virgin olive oil
½ tsp
salt
2 Tbsp
fresh lime juice from 1 to 2 limes, plus lime wedges for serving (see note)
2 Tbsp
minced fresh cilantro leaves, plus more for serving (see note)
Steps

1. Preheat the Oven

Rack
Sous Vide Mode: Off
Steam: 100%
Temp: 213°F
Heat: Rear

2. Prepare Rice

In a sheet pan, combine the water, rice, oil, and salt. Mix well, then spread the rice in an even layer.

3. Cook

Rack
Transfer to the oven and cook for 30 minutes.

4. Rest

When the timer goes off, turn off the oven but leave the rice inside with the door closed for 5 minutes.

5. Add Seasonings

Add the lime juice and cilantro to the rice (see note). Fluff with a fork to combine. Let rice rest again for 5 minutes.

Serve garnished with additional cilantro and lime wedges.
