Buttermilk Drop Biscuits

I believe that the perfect biscuits should be quick, easy, and hassle free, and I want them to be just as good served at room temperature as they are fresh from the oven. This recipe uses only one bowl; you do not need to pull out your rolling pin or your food processor. By using frozen butter and a cheese grater you get those coveted buttery flakes with little effort.

Buttermilk Drop Biscuits

Ingredients
200 grams (1 1/2 cups)
all-purpose flour
1.5 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
kosher salt
5 Tbsp
unsalted butter, frozen in one piece
½ cup plus 3 Tbsp
buttermilk
Steps

1. Preheat the Oven and Prepare Pan

Rack
Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
Sous Vide Mode: Off
Steam: Off
Temp: 400°F
Heat: Rear

2. Combine Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

3. Grate Butter

Place a cheese grater over the bowl of flour and grate the frozen butter into the flour. Stir to combine and evenly distribute the butter into the flour.

4. Add Buttermilk

Add the buttermilk to the flour and butter mixture. Gently stir together until the mixture has formed a shaggy dough.

5. Bake

Using a 1/4 cup measuring spoon, drop 6 round scoops of dough onto the prepared sheet pan. Transfer to the oven and bake until golden brown, about 14 minutes.

6. Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let cool on the sheet pan for a few minutes before serving warm or transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
